Propeller

Propeller

Choosing a boat propeller might seem simplistic at first. However, it's not always as basic as it might seem. There are a variety of options that you have to choose from when you need to replace or furnish your boat with a new propeller. Propellers generally come in different models and styles based on the type of motor that you've got on your boat. If you've got a Honda motor, you'll have one set of options, while if you have a Mercury motor, you'll have a completely different set of options. It doesn't matter what you're looking for or which type of engine you have, though, because you will still be able to find the propeller that suits your needs as long as you take the time to learn about them and their different options.

The solas propeller is an aftermarket model that fits a variety of boat motors and boats, such as Yamaha, Evinrude, Johnson, Honda, Mercury, and more. These are designed to have a universal nature, making them much easier to outfit your boat with, but still offer exactly what you need in the way of boat propellers. An OEM propeller, on the other hand, is a manufacturer's replacement that matches the original propeller that your motor came with. If you're looking for a specific replacement that was broken or worn down, you want to invest in an OEM propeller rather than a generic, or solas propeller.

The specific type that you choose will vary greatly based on your personal preference, as well as what you can afford. As long as you have the proper model based on your brand of motor, the rest of the options are basically up to you. It doesn't matter if you have a large boat or a small boat, because there are many different sizes and designs to choose from for all of your propulsion needs.

This is one of the many reasons that it's helpful to know your vessel and its motor before you get too into boating. By allowing yourself to be informed and prepared, you'll have a better chance at finding the right propeller, and finding it much faster than if you were uninformed. For example, propellers are brand-specific in most cases, meaning a propeller that works for an Evinrude might not work on your Yamaha motor. Some types of aftermarket propellers will be universal, but that still doesn't mean you can just grab the first one you see and make it work. Take the time to learn about propellers and you will definitely find the one that you need.
