Boat Dealers and Locations
If you've decided to invest in a boat, you might be looking for the best dealers and dealerships in your area. Most dealers and dealerships, for obvious reasons, are only located near lakes, rivers, and oceans. However, that doesn't mean that you can't find boat dealers if you live inland and away from the water. There are plenty of online dealers that you can visit, and if you are looking for a vacation boat, you can visit dealers in the area you vacation in to find the boat that you want or need.
Boat dealers come in all shapes and sizes, just like any other retail store. You can find boat dealers that sell all types of boats, or specialty dealers that sell one or two types or perhaps even just one brand of watercraft. There isn't necessarily one that's better than the other, though. You need to determine what type of boat you want and which options are best for you before you begin shopping or looking for boat dealers. The worst possible thing you could do is to walk into a dealership with no idea about what you want or need, because you'll likely get talked into something that you DON'T need by the salesmen at the dealership.
If you live in a coastal town or a lakeside community, you'll have better luck finding boat dealers than if you live 20 or 30 miles from the coast. Also, the bigger the destination, the more dealers you'll find. For example, a small lakeside town in Ohio might have a boat dealership, but a more populated area like Miami, Florida or the Keys will probably have at least a handful of boat dealers, if not more. The locations of boat dealerships is based on supply and demand. The more people that are likely to buy a boat will increase the number of dealerships in any given area.
You should always research an investment as big as this one before you shop, to make sure that you have everything planned out and are prepared for what you're getting into. It's just common sense that you should want to be an informed consumer, so that you don't get taken advantage of or make a bad purchase when you're spending so much on something. Once you've taken the time to inform yourself and know your options, you'll be much better prepared to have a successful boat shopping experience.
