You will need to know the rules of using personal watercraft before you hit the water, though. Many people think that anyone can operate a jet ski or Waverunner, but drivers are required to be at least 14 in most states, and some require the driver to be licensed to operate vehicles before they can use one of these toys.
To find out about the laws in your state, you can check with the dealer that you buy your personal watercraft from. If you're renting, you can ask the company what their rules and the state's laws are for the age limits and restrictions for operating jet skis and Waverunners. It doesn't matter whether you're renting or buying. You still need to take the time to be prepared and informed about operating these machines to make your experiences fun and safe. Otherwise, you might put yourself in a risky situation that is completely unnecessary.
